I have lived in Cornwall for most of my life having been born in Penzance and have been working professionally with dogs since 1995 working mostly with German Shepherds and Springer Spaniels within the Devon and Cornwall borders, occasionally venturing out into other regional areas where I competed in trials.
During these years I have come across all the usual problems and more that we encounter as dog owners and have seen a big increase in skin problems and cereal-intolerant dogs which usually means several trips to the vet with all the expense that goes with it when often a change of diet to a grain free food has a beneficial impact on your dog’s general health.
Another problem area on the increase in many dogs are behavioural issues, more than often caused by feeding a low-quality food which contain very high sugar and salt ingredients to make the food seem more attractive to your dog, not to mention the un natural colorants and preservatives put in the food giving you a cocktail of problems which can lead to long term health problems and of course even more visits to the vets. One such product is in every shop you go into, the packaging is full of colours which attract the dog owner, sadly its whats in the packaging your dog has to eat creating more waste and a hyper dog.In fact per kilo price to deliver the same nutritional value as a meat driven food it actually costs you more!;
There are a number of premium products on the market; Arden Grange, Royal Canin, James Wellbeloved,Science Plan and Burns, to name but a few. However, in my opinion, although all these foods are of a good quality, Simpsons Premium dog food is an equal match to them, but without the premium price tag! I have struggled to find a match for the price in the Sensitive range, most of which has a 45% grade A meat content (fit for human consumption).
